You raise an interesting point about the Kent World Cup … when I asked the community for an opinion on FISTF suddenly introducing an ‘old rules’ World Cup the thread was closed and I was told that the community does not discuss competitions organised by other federations.

I get the sense that previous discussions involving other federations have tended to generate more heat than light!

I'm aware that this thread might cause a problem at some point...

I'll keep it going though, in the hope that we can gracefully navigate all things unnecessary! :D

Here's a pic and clips from the event on Wednesday.

...including what VAR shows what was probably an illegal goal (which everyone allowed on the night!)

The players, with Simon Goodman winning overall, and now holding the Non-Lucido trophy...

A nice close chip from Tony Banks, leaving Gianluca's keeper transfixed! :B):

Here's a longer clip (apols about the quality)

From around 02:25 there's a breakaway goal!
or is it...?

Player 1 (me): Over-excited about what may have been an amazing goal.
Player 2 (Simon): Indicated he thought it was probably ok.
Gianluca: said he thought it was a goal (not as a referee, but in his role as 'wandering cameraman').
Simon made the decision, by replacing his players for kick-off, and saying something like "Go on then, let's give it as a goal!" 😎

However, VAR probably disagrees with all of us. Who said the camera never lies!

Fortunately Simon won the encounter 3-1

Mmm you scored against me at Huntingdon all those years ago in similar fashion and that shouldn’t have counted either .. and for the same reasons 😉

You deflected the ball off a defending figure thereby losing possession and the ball wasn’t entirely in the shooting area 🤷‍♂️😂

In this instance though, there was the holding midfielder who nodded the ball on to the left winger! 😄

Here's the 00-scale replay...

The VAR screenshot, which suggests the goal shouldn't have stood! (the round brown blob in the foreground is the player's base [Wolves], to confuse issues further! )

Fair enough on the bagatelle move 😉😂

Nice chip from Tony not sure why Gianluca is waving his keeper around off the ground though 🙄

Keep ‘em spinning 👌

Note that Simon's keeper is touching the ground though... :B):

Here's a nice little clip.

It shows Chris, playing his first ever game with flats, paired up with Simon, who has represented England in Subbuteo, and a veteran of the flats TSPA circuit over here.

Check out all the advice and instruction given by Simon 'on the fly', as Chris manages to defend a difficult position.

The only instruction he withholds is not to call out a finger foul and a couple of dodgy 'front finger flicks'....letting the game run to achieve optimum engagement, learning and fun! :B):
